Welcome
to Tierra Dentro Expeditions:
experienced, committed and responsible
mountain guides from Mexico.
You have just landed here because you are
looking for a guide, want a guided trip to the
mountains or simply just looking for information on how
to climb Mexico's mountains. Either way, you have
come to the right place, because we are the local
guides to the Mexican Volcanoes.
We see ourselves as the local experts because we've been
climbing Mexico's mountains for more than 25 YEARS.
We enjoy it so much, that 14 years ago we decided to
start sharing our experience with others.
What you will find UNIQUE from our services is
that absolutely all of our trips are designed and
tailored to suit the abilities, time and budget of each
individual and group who decide to try one of our many
trips or expeditions.
As you will see, our prices are far more affordable
than any other professional company currently guiding
the Volcanoes of Mexico.
This is possible only because we don't have to pay
plane tickets to get our guides to México. We
don't need to do so because we are Mexican guides who
have climbed our Mexican Volcanoes mountains for over 50
times and we have experience guiding mountains abroad
that are over 6,000 m. (20,000 feet)
We invite You to Climb Pico de Orizaba, do some
Mountaineering in Mexico or enjoy a less demanding High
Altitude Trek in Mexico.
Facts about Pico de Orizaba:
Official height 5610 msnm - 18,405 feet (Inegi 2005)
Other common heights given to the mountain are around
5,640 m. - 18,500 feet
Pico de Orizaba is the highest Volcano of North America
and the third highest mountain of our continent after
McKinley(USA) and Logan(Canada).
The Nahuatl(Aztec) name of Pico de
Orizaba is Citlaltepetl and it means "Cerro de la
Estrella" - star hill or Hill of the star.
Although the Volcano is not directly accessible
by the city of Orizaba it is the closest biggest city to
the mountain, thus receiving the modern name Peak of
Orizaba.
The North face of Pico de Orizaba is
climbed through Tlachichuca in the state of Puebla.
The South face of Pico de Orizaba is climbed through
Texmalaquillas, Puebla.
Pico de Orizaba is located between the state of Puebla
and Veracruz in Mexico.
Note: On guide books and magazine reviews like Lonely
Planet it is written that our office is located in
Oaxaca.
3 years ago we moved our Head Offices to Tlaxcala - in
the heart of the volcanoes - but we still have a
contact Office in Oaxaca, in case you happen to be
there.
